A New Shopping Schedule & Experience

This month, we will be open on the following two dates:

Open Shops
February Open Shops

You can expect a new shopping experience in a welcoming atmosphere, with well-organized racks and a variety of clothing options. The team has worked hard to improve the layout and make shopping easier and more enjoyable.

To get the best experience at the Community Closet open shops, consider these tips:

  • Bring Your Own Bag: We do have bags, but feel free to bring a reusable bag to take your finds home easily. But remember, one (1) bag per person!

  • Check Sizes Ahead: If you’re looking for specific sizes, it helps to know your measurements.

  • Be Open-Minded: Sometimes the best finds are unexpected. Try new styles or colors you wouldn’t normally pick.

Why You Should Visit the Community Closet

Visiting the Community Closet open shops offers several benefits:

  • Affordable and Sustainable Fashion: You can find quality clothing without spending a lot of money. Choosing secondhand clothes also helps reduce the environmental impact of fast fashion.

  • Unique Finds: Each visit offers different items, from vintage jackets to everyday essentials. It’s a treasure hunt for those who enjoy one-of-a-kind pieces.

  • Support for the Community: The shops help people who may not have easy access to new clothing. Your participation supports a local initiative that promotes sharing and caring.

  • Social Connection: The open shops are a great place to meet neighbors, share stories, and build friendships around a common interest.

How to Donate Clothing

Donations keep the Community Closet stocked and thriving. If you have gently used clothing, shoes, or accessories, consider donating them. Here are some guidelines, but watch the video below as well:

  • Clothes should be clean and in good condition

  • Avoid items with stains, tears, or excessive wear

  • Seasonal clothing is especially appreciated

  • Drop off donations during Open Shops only!

Donating helps reduce waste and supports the shop’s mission to provide affordable clothing options for everyone.

How to Volunteer and Make a Difference

Volunteering at the Community Closet is a rewarding way to contribute. Volunteers help with sorting donations, adding to inventory, assisting shoppers, and cleaning up after events. No special skills are required, just a willingness to help and a positive attitude.

Volunteer Roles Include:

  • Sorting and organizing donated clothing (this will occur on non-open shop dates)

  • Assisting shoppers

  • Managing inventory and cleaning up

  • Promoting the shops

Volunteering offers a chance to learn about sustainable fashion, meet new people, and make a tangible impact in our community.
